VicSuper has announced that Christine Stewart has stepped into the role of deputy chair following Wayne Kayler-Thomson's election as chair.

Stewart has served as VicSuper's chair since January 2017 and as a director of the fund since 2009. She also previously spent 12 years as the deputy secretary of the Australian Education Union.

In welcoming Kayler-Thomson, Michael Dundon, CEO of VicSuper said: "[Wayne is] an accomplished professional with extensive experience and a strong understanding of the Fund and the needs of our members and employers."

In acknowledging Stewart's contribution, he added: "I would also like to thank Christine for her dedicated contribution to VicSuper as the outgoing Chair, and look forward to working with her in her role as Deputy Chair."

VicSuper recently announced that the fund has entered into the due diligence phase of merger discussions with First State Super and expects to make a final decision on the merger by the end of the year.
