Vanguard today announced the retirement of Robin Bowerman, head of Vanguard Australia's corporate affairs group and a member of the firm's Australian executive team.

Bowerman, a former journalist and editor, will retire following a 19-year career at Vanguard Australia, leading the retail, strategy, advocacy and corporate affairs functions during his time.

Hired by Vanguard Australia founder Jeremy Duffield, Bowerman joined Vanguard in 2003 as head of retail. He was instrumental in building Vanguard's retail business, including its financial adviser services unit from its foundational years into one that now serves some 12,000 advisers.

Bowerman's legacy also includes his central role in bringing Vanguard's exchange-traded funds to Australian investors in 2009, which have since grown to lead the market in assets under management, and his significant contributions to the launch of Vanguard Personal Investor in 2020 and Vanguard Super in 2022.

Passionate about financial literacy, Bowerman co-authored his book Wealth of Experience with Duffield and served as a commentator and editor for several Vanguard presentations and publications.

He has also served on the board of the SMSF Association, founded the FSC ETF working group, and provided his expertise to a range of other industry forums.

Vanguard Australia managing director Daniel Shrimski thanked Bowerman for his significant contributions to the growth and development of Vanguard and the broader financial services industry.

"Robin's passion and dedication to Australian investors' financial wellbeing has been exemplary and provided many who worked with him the tools to carry that forward. All of us at Vanguard wish Robin every success with the next phase of his life."
