Tabcorp CEO David Attenborough has joined the board of industry fund Hostplus.

Attenborough is one of several new directors appointed to the fund following several high-profile departures. He's joined by former Federal Minister Craig Laundy and legal partner Janet Whiting.

"This is an important time for Hostplus, as we continue to grow and develop and realise scale benefits so that we can work diligently to manage and grow our members' superannuation savings so they can look forward to a dignified retirement," said Hostplus chair David Elmslie. "I am very pleased that David, Craig, Janet and Brian [Kearney as alternate employer director] will be joining our Board, and their collective abilities and expertise ensure that our Fund remains well placed to continue to deliver outcomes that are in the best financial interests of our members, and particularly as we enter a period of unprecedented reform and transformation in our retirement income system."

Attenborough has a long history with gaming, spending the last eleven years with Tabcorp as chief executive officer. He was also briefly the managing director of wagering. He joined Tabcorp from South Africa-based Phumele Gaming and Leisure where he was chief executive and held senior roles with a variety of casino and racing organisations.

Attenborough commences with Hostplus on 1 July.
