Synchron has appointed former CommInsure senior executive Ian Knight to their new general manager of operations.
The appointment comes after an executive reorganisation following the announcement that Don Trapnell would step back from the day-to-day management of the firm.
Knight most recently spent more than seven years with CommInsure in a variety of roles, including the acting head of distribution.
Trapnell says that he's confident in the future of the organisation. "After more than 20 years at the helm, I have great pleasure in handing over the daily operation of Synchron to Ian, which will allow me to do the same. I am confident that, supported by our senior management team, Ian and Michael [Jones] have what it takes to successfully lead Synchron into the next decade."
Knight comes to finance via a circuitous route, having spent nearly 20 years in law enforcement, winding up in 2004 as a detective senior sergeant with the Victoria Police. He then went to work for financial services companies including Financial Wisdom, AXA, and the Bank of Melbourne where he was head of financial planning.
"We believe that collectively, the Synchron management team has the wealth of industry knowledge necessary to continue to meet ever-increasing regulatory obligations and deliver outstanding outcomes for advisers and their clients," Trapnell said.
