After five years, Matt Gahan has left Future Super where he was promoted to head of fund operations six months ago.

Before the elevation he was general manager of superannuation for around four years bringing experience from previous roles at Australian Ethical and Onepath.

His exit follows an overhaul of the business leading to job cuts as detailed in our sister publication Financial Standard earlier this month.

"Whilst we are undertaking more detailed consultations with our team members this week, we expect to finish the week by saying farewell to some valued individuals who've made important contributions to our mission," the group's chief executive, Simon Sheikh said.

At Australian Ethical, he served as executive officer for superannuation and also did a stint as a product manager.

"I have been continually amazed at the people I have had the privilege to work with, and I have admired the passion, commitment and energy that they bring to their role at Future Group," he posted on social media.

"I have been fortunate to work on many projects and initiatives that have shaped the future direction of the business and lead high-performing teams to deliver outstanding work and outcomes for our members across multiple brands."

Ghan said he will be "forever grateful" for the opportunities and challenges presented to him and thanked Sheikh for bringing him into the team all those years ago.

Sheikh added: "Thank you for an incredible contribution. We've been through so much together! Hope you take the time to catch your breath after a rollercoaster few years."
