Statewide Super has announced the appointment of Tony D'Alessandro as the fund's new chief executive officer, effective 1 March 2019.

D'Alessandro, who currently serves as Statewide Super's general manager, member engagement, will replace Richard Nunn following his appointment as CEO of MetLife Australia.

Commenting on D'Alessandro's appointment, chair of Statewide Super, Ken Williams, said: "Tony has enormous respect within the financial services industry and our local communities. His track record is one of driving sustainable business growth, while delivering high quality benefits and experiences to members."

He added: "Tony has been an integral member of the Statewide Super leadership team for the past three years. His natural ability to develop and inspire high performing teams and winning cultures, allows him to skilfully lead business progress at every opportunity. He is a man of great integrity and honesty with an unwavering belief in equity for all Australians."

D'Alessandro has experience in private banking, wealth management and administration. Prior to joining Statewide Super, he held senior executive management roles at CBA, St George Bank and Bank SA, including serving as general manager of Commonwealth Private Bank and as CEO of CBA-owned Symetry Limited.
