SSGA appoints Head of Investments, Australia

State Street Global Advisors has confirmed to Industry Moves the appointment of Jonathan Shead as head of investments, Australia.

Shead's appointment follows the retirement of SSGA veteran Susan Darroch, who served as head of global equity beta solutions Asia Pacific ex Japan before her departure in July 2019.

Commenting on Shead's new role, James MacNevin, SSGA's head of Asia Pacific, said that Shead will serve as the "locally-based investment voice for State Street Global Advisors and spanning the breadth of the firm's investment solutions." He will also provide local oversight to the Australian investment team.

Shead was previously head of retirement solutions, Australia, having been appointed to the role in June 2018. He joined SSGA Australia in August 2000 and was a member of the global portfolio strategy team from 2000 to 2018 covering both equities and currency and serving as the head of portfolio strategists for the Asia Pacific region.

SSGA has also confirmed a new role for Alex King, who has been appointed as head of global equity beta solutions, Australia.

Commenting on both appointments, MacNevin said: "Jonathan and Alex have worked with Susan for over a decade and will continue to deliver high quality service, solutions, and expertise to our clients in Australia."
