SSGA appoints Head of Global Equity Beta Solutions, Australia

State Street Global Advisors has confirmed to Industry Moves the appointment of Alex King as head of global equity beta solutions, Australia.

King's appointment follows the retirement of SSGA veteran Susan Darroch, who served as head of global equity beta solutions Asia Pacific ex Japan before her departure in July 2019.

Commenting on King's new role, James MacNevin, SSGA's head of Asia Pacific, said that King will be "responsible for the management of domestic, international and emerging markets portfolios across the spectrum of index capabilities."

King transferred from SSGA's London to Sydney office in 2014, and has served as a member of the GEBS portfolio management team since 2006. He joined SSGA in 2002 as a portfolio analyst and later worked on the new business team involved with client onboarding.

SSGA has also confirmed a new role for Jonathan Shead, who has been appointed as head of investments, Australia.

Commenting on both appointments, MacNevin said: "Jonathan and Alex have worked with Susan for over a decade and will continue to deliver high quality service, solutions, and expertise to our clients in Australia."
