The SMSF Association has appointed board director Andrew Gale as its chair for the next two years. Gale will succeed Peter Crump who has served in the position for the last two years and will remain on the board.
Gale has over 30 years' financial services experience, including roles as executive director of Chase Corporate Advisory, CEO and MD of Count Financial, and managing partner of Deloitte Actuaries & Consultants. He has also held senior executive roles with MLC and AMP.
Gale said he is committed to building on SMSFA's past achievements, and to pursuing objectives such as supporting thought leadership, integrity and understanding of the SMSF sector.
"We will continue to stress the importance of a sustainable superannuation and retirement incomes sector that addresses adequacy and equity issues, encourages self-provision (to relieve pressure on future social security demands) and fulfils the core goal of providing for retirement incomes," Gale said.
Vanguard's Robin Bowerman has been appointed deputy chair.
