REI Super, an industry fund dedicated to real estate professionals, has announced the appointment of Michelle Beveridge as an independent director on its board, effective immediately.

Beveridge has over 20 years' experience in technology roles and has served as a director on various boards, including Vernet, Australian Computer Society, and the Queen Victoria Women's Centre Trust. Currently, she is the chief information officer for Intrepid Group, an adventure travel company.

Commenting on her appointment, Beveridge said: "I think the superannuation industry is ripe for modernisation in terms of how technology can really drive business and because super is so important for everybody's future. I am excited to be joining REI Super and am looking forward to helping the Fund fulfil its ambition of improving overall customer experience, expanding its membership base and attracting new members to the fold."

Her appointment brings the the total percentage of female directors on REI Super's board to 40 per cent.

Beveridge added: "I am passionate about diversity in financial services, because when you have a diverse team, the team actually works better...the more women I can attract to the industry, the better teams I'm going to have working with me overall because I'll have that diverse opinion in there. And it's more than just a diversity in gender of course, it's about age, cultures, religions, physical abilities, sexual orientations, different nationalities and backgrounds."
