The local arm of the US$1.2 trillion global investment management business of US-based Prudential Financial has recruited Murray Brewer as head of its institutional relationship group for Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Sydney, Brewer is responsible for leading PGIM Australia's growth plans and continued expansion of its institutional client base throughout the region.

He joins from Capital Group where he served as country head of Australia. Before that, Brewer spent 14 years as country head of distribution for Australia and New Zealand at T. Rowe Price and almost five years as head of distribution for Australia at Schroders Investment Management.

He started his financial services career as a business development manager with Westpac.

"Murray brings more than 30 years of experience in the investment management industry in Australia, where he's built an impressive track record and developed a range of longstanding relationships with both investors and asset consultants," said the head of IRG Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) Philip Hsin.

"As we continue to fuel growth and strengthen our institutional client network in the region, Murray will be a strong representative of our brand and our commitment to delivering superior long-term investment outcomes for our clients."

PGIM Australia has recently added to its institutional business team.

In February, Eileen Yong joined the real estate operation as executive director and deputy portfolio manager and Benjamin Price came aboard as head of Australia Wealth.

"As our clients are building high-calibre in-house investment teams, I look forward to working closely with them to tackle their portfolio challenges," added Brewer.
