Orton promoted at ANZ

ANZ has appointed Paul Orton as its new group general manager for internal audit.

Orton has been with the bank for more than 12 years, joining in 2009. He was most recently the head of resources, energy, and infrastructure following several years as global head of project and export finance across institutional and international banking. Orton has also held project and leveraged finance roles with NAB and Deutsche Bank Australia across a nearly 30 year career in finance.

"It's pleasing to be able to appoint a senior banker with Paul's track-record and strong values to such an important role that provides the Board and our management team with independent and objective assurance on our operations," said ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott.

Orton succeeds Shane Buggle, who was appointed ANZ's actin CFO earlier this year.
