NATIONAL STOCK EXCHANGE OF AUSTRALIA
Date: January 2021
Position: Chief Operating Officer

The National Stock Exchange of Australia has promoted Chan Arambewela as its new chief operating officer.

Arambewela joined the NX on a contract in early 2017 following an 18-year career with the ASX. He became the head of product and strategy in mid-2020 where he worked to help harmonise the equities trading cycle through the introduction of the Trade Acceptance Service to implement consistent post-trade functions across the ASX, Chi-X and the NSXA. The function went live in late November 2020.

"I am delighted and honoured to accept the position as COO of NSXA," said Arambewela. "I look forward to continued engagement with market stakeholders and government agencies as we strive to deliver competition to a market that will be significantly enhanced by our collective efforts to do so."

In his new role, Arambewela will be responsible for day-to-day management of the NSXA. NSX Limited managing director and CEO John Karantzis says he's delighted Arambewela has accepted the role. "Chan brings further valuable experience to the group and strengthens the team. I look forward to working with Chan and the execution of the NSXA's growth strategy."
