Nikko AM has confirmed the departure of Roger Bridges from the role of global rates and currencies strategist, effective end of February 2017.

Bridges was appointed to the role in October 2014 and prior to that was the firm's head of fixed income strategy.

He retires from Nikko AM after almost 20 years with the firm.

Commenting on his departure, a spokesperson said: "We wish Roger all the best for the future...[He] has made a strong contribution to Nikko AM - from portfolio manager to leading the Australian Fixed Income team, to his current role as interest rates and currencies specialist."

Nikko AM global chief strategist, John Vail, will add Roger's global interest rate and currency responsibilities to his global macroeconomic strategy work.

The firm expects global CIO, Yu-Ming Wang, to decide on Bridges' successor in early 2017.
