Nicola Roxon has been appointed as an independent director of Dexus Funds Management (DXFM), effective 1 September 2017.
Roxon has more than 20 years' experience with a background in the public sector and not-for-profit sectors, and consumer industries. Previously, she held the roles of Federal Attorney General, Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, and Member for Gellibrand. She also worked as an industrial lawyer and advocate at Maurice Blackburn and the National Union of Workers.
She is currently the independent chair of the Cancer Council Australia and the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board, and is a non-executive director of Bupa, Australia and New Zealand and Lifestyle Communities Limited.
Her appointment at Dexus, along with the upcoming departure of long-serving independent director Elizabeth Alexander, will bring the DXFM board to eight, comprising one executive director and seven non-executive directors.
