The Financial Services Council has welcomed Challenger chief executive Nick Hamilton as its newest director.

FSC chairman David Bryant said Hamilton brings an immense wealth of knowledge in financial services and funds management to the FSC board, and his proven leadership will be an asset.

"Nick's dedication to grow and protect the long-term financial wellbeing of Australians will be valued, and we look forward to working with him," said Bryant.

Hamilton became chief executive in January, succeeding Richard Howes, who retired from the company.

He has led Challenger's fund management business since 2019, overseeing a period of exceptional growth and performance, with funds under management reaching over $100 billion.

Before joining Challenger, Hamilton held senior roles in several companies, including Fidante Partners, Thomson Reuters, Invesco, and First Sentier.
