New GM of portfolio Strategy and Risk for HESTA

Gary Gabriel has been appointed as the new general manager of portfolio strategy and risk at industry super fund HESTA.

Gabriel, who has 23 years industry experience, joined the $32b fund from Wilshire Associates where he spent four years as managing director and head of Asia Pacific. Before that he was head of private markets at both UniSuper (till 2007) and Future Fund (till 2010).

Gabriel's appointment follows the July 2015 appointment of James Harman as general manager of listed assets. Both Harman and Gabriel join general manager of unlisted assets, Andrew Major, on the newly restructured investment strategy team.
