J.P. Morgan has announced that Paul Uren has been appointed as the firm's new chief executive officer (CEO) for Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately.

Uren takes on the top job in addition to his existing responsibilities as the firm's head of global investment banking, a role he has held since July 2015.

Uren succeeds Rob Priestley, who has stepped away from his executive management responsibilities to chair the firm's board. Priestley, in turn, replaces former chair Rod Eddington, who has moved into a new role to establish the firm's Asia Pacific Advisory Council.

Commenting on Uren's new appointment, J.P. Morgan chair and CEO for Asia Pacific, Nicolas Aguzin, said: "Since Paul joined the firm he has focused on delivering strategic advice and solutions to our priority clients, ensuring they continue to benefit from the firm's global and local strength."

"He has been instrumental in helping to drive the growth of our investment banking business and broadening our franchise and in this expanded role, we look forward to Paul's strategic support and leadership across all of the firm's lines of business."
