National Australia Bank has announced the appointment of Shaun Dooley to the role of chief risk officer (CRO), as part of a restructure of the bank's executive leadership team.

Dooley, who joined NAB in 1992 and has served in various senior executive roles in risk, corporate and institutional banking, is currently the bank's group treasurer. He will replace current CRO, David Gall, who has in turn been appointed as chief customer officer, corporate and institutional banking.

Commenting on the restructure - which also sees Mike Baird replace Andrew Hagger as chief customer officer of consumer banking; and Rachel Slade appointed as chief customer experience officer - NAB CEO, Andrew Thorburn, said: "We have a clear plan to transform NAB and create a sustainable business that puts customers first - and we are executing on that plan."

NAB expects the changes to be in place by 1 October 2018, subject to regulatory approval.
