Munich Re MD Australasia to retire

Munich Re has announced that managing director for Australasia, Heinrich Eder, will retire on 30 June 2016.

Eder has enjoyed a varied and international career with Munich Re, spanning 36 years and including underwriting roles in Germany, leading international portfolio segments, heading up Munich Re's Japan businesses. and ultimately being appointed managing director for Australasia in 2005.

Commenting on Eder's time with the firm, CEO for Asia Pacific, Roland Eckl said: "[Heinrich] is a passionate and energetic leader who has guided Munich Re in Australasia into today's strong position, weathering economic turmoil and natural catastrophes over the past decade."

He added: "He has been a valued leader and mentor, and will be greatly missed by his colleagues."

A new Australasian managing director will be announced over the next few months.
