Morgan Stanley Australia (Morgan Stanley) has confirmed to Industry Moves the promotion of Richard Wiles to the role of head of research, Australia, effective August 2017.

Wiles will maintain his current responsibilities as the firm's senior banks and financial institutions analyst. He will also join the firm's Asia Research Management team, reporting to managing director, William Greene.

Wiles first joined Morgan Stanley in 2006. Prior to that he held roles with J.P. Morgan and Macquarie Group.

In his newly-expanded role he replaces Lou Pirenc, former head of research Australia and property and REITs analyst, who has been promoted to the role of global head of research data based in New York.

Taking over Piernc's property and REITs role is John "Jet" Lee.
