Macquarie Group Chair announces retirement

Macquarie Group (MGL) and Macquarie Bank (MBL) have announced that Kevin McCann AM will retire as chair of both companies effective 31 March 2016 and will be succeeded by independent director, Peter Warne

McCann was appointed acting chair of MGL and MBL from November 2008 until August 2009 when founding chair David Clarke suffered ill health. He succeeded Clarke as chair in 2011.

McCann was previously chair of Origin Energy Limited, Healthscope Limited and ING Management Limited and a director of BlueScope Steel Limited. He spent 34 years as a partner of Allens Arthur Robinson and also served as the law firm's chair.
