Financial services provider Thorn Group Limited, who provide consumer leasing and business financial services and own Radio Rentals, have named Peter Lirantzis as their new CEO.

Lirantzis has a diverse set of experiences in financial services, including serving as group COO and co-CEO at FlexiGroup and head of customer assisted services at Westpac.

Thorn Group recently went to investors seeking to raise approximately $38.7 million.

In making the announcement about the new CEO, the group's interim chair, Warren Mcleland, said he and the board are excited about having Peter join the organisation. "We have a big challenge to ensure Thorn Group is not just restored to profitability as early as possible but the task facing us is to transform Thorn to build a sustainable business restoring our historical relevance in the 21st century. This will require digitizing the business from end to end."

This is a task Lirantzis is uniquely suited for, says Mcleland. "Peter's core competence is his ability to re-engineer our operation using automation for example, as a lead enabler to create an enduring low cost organization with a powerful competitive advantage."

Lirantzis was positive about Thorn Group's offerings and what the future could hold. "Thorn provides critical financing products that enable individuals and businesses to achieve their goals, and I am looking forward to leading the team to continue to improve the ways in which we help our customers meet their financing needs and insurance that the organisation is well positioned to leverage its embedded strengths and take advantage of emerging opportunities."

Current Thorn CEO, Tim Luce, will remain with the organisation until Lirantzis comes abord in February of 2020.

Radio Rentals was fined $2 million and issued more than $20 million in refunds in 2018 after it was found to have violated consumer law.
