Lindsay Tanner to join Suncorp board

Suncorp has announced the appointment of Lindsay Tanner as a non-executive director on its board, effective 1 January 2018.

He fills one of the vacancies created by the retirement of Bill Bartlett and Ewoud Kulk after the Suncorp AGM in September.

Tanner was previously the Minister for Finance in the Rudd and Gillard governments. In this role, he was responsible for procurement, IT, property, superannuation and compliance.

Since leaving Parliament more than seven years ago, Tanner has built a portfolio of business roles, including involvement in mergers and acquisitions advisory, fintech, life insurance and cyber security businesses.

Commenting on Tanner's appointment at Suncorp, chair, Dr Ziggy Switkowski, said: "Lindsay brings a wide range of relevant public and private sector experience in financial services with an acute appreciation of the technological, regulatory and political changes shaping the industry."
