legalsuper has elevated Carrie Norman to the newly created leadership role of chief member officer.

Currently, Norman is the executive manager of member experience.

"Since joining legalsuper in 2020, Carrie has excelled in expanding and innovating our member service and engagement. She has taken full advantage of our specialisation in the legal community and our agility as a smaller fund, to keep legalsuper progressive and competitive within the continually evolving superannuation landscape," said the super fund's chief executive Andrew Proebstl.

Her appointment comes as the industry fund overhauls its management team to further personalise and tailor experiences for its members and employers.

"Central to the restructure is the integration of member service and marketing functions, and an expanded product management capability," Proebstl added.

Meanwhile, David Eastwood - executive manager of operations and member service - will leave the fund after more than 15 years.

Proebstl acknowledged that Eastwood's contribution has been pivotal to legalsuper's success.

His departure will see the creation of a new leadership role - chief operating officer - and recruitment for this role is now in progress.

The super fund is also searching for a newly created head of product role.

legalsuper manages over $5 billion of the retirement wealth of the legal community on behalf of more than 41,000 members.

The super fund generated returns of 2.8 percent for the financial year to 28 February 2022 for MySuper, which was 2 percent above the SuperRatings median. The returns placed the fund as the 13th highest option in the SuperRatings all-fund universe of 196 options.
