After nearly 14 years at Melbourne-based fund manager L1 Capital, Lev Margolin has left to start a new family office targeting opportunities in both public and private markets.
The start-up will specifically target investments in telecommunications, media, entertainment and technology, gaming, infrastructure, agriculture, and financials.
In a LinkedIn post, Margolin said he will be ready to launch the new firm in the second half of the year and hopes to be able to finish hiring shortly.
"So if you want to exchange thoughts about a stock idea, have an interesting private market investment that needs funding in one of the target areas, or just keen to have a chat, please drop me a line," he said.
Margolin joined L1 Capital from Babcock & Brown, where he worked as an analyst.
Before that, he worked at Allco Equity Partners and National Australia Bank - also as an analyst.
Marglin called L1 a "rewarding professional experience" and noted it had grown from a four-person boutique managing a single Australian long-only product in 2008 to a $5 billion firm with 40 staff working across three continents.
