KPMG appoints senior global insurance and wealth executive

KPMG Australia has recently announced the appointment of Tim Thomas as partner, KPMG global strategy group (insurance and wealth management).

In this role, Thomas will lead a specialist insurance and wealth management strategy practice.

He joins from Prudential Financial in the US where, as regional vice-president, he ran strategy and corporate development for the firm's Asia-Pacific operations.

Thomas has over 20 years' experience in financial services and has worked across Asia-Pacific in strategic leadership, corporate development and operational management roles. Previously, he was AXA's chief representative in India. He started his career in Australia and, according to KPMG, was involved in several large transformation programs in the wealth and insurance sector.

At KPMG he is joined by Maurice van den Heuvel, who has moved from KPMG Netherlands' insurance strategy practice and will be a senior leader in Thomas' team.

Commenting, Thomas said: "My team will be committed to helping insurance and wealth executives guide the industry through the current political and market uncertainties, and make bold leadership decisions that strengthen performance whilst positioning for longer-term success."
