Industry Super Australia (ISA) has announced the internal appointment of Bernie Dean as CEO, succeeding David Whiteley who is set to join IFM Investors later in the year as global head, external relations.

Dean, who will take over the top job in September 2018, joined the firm as director of marketing in 2013 and has held his current position as COO since 2016.

Prior to joining ISA, Dean held a number of senior positions in the Victorian public service, most notably as a senior adviser to the former Victorian Premier Steve Bracks on issues including infrastructure and public transport. In the mid-1990s, he worked as an organiser with the ACTU, representing and campaigning alongside workers across the public, hospitality and finance sectors.
