Industry Super Australia (ISA) has lost chief economist Stephen Anthony.

Anthony, who has spent the last six years with the lobbying organisation, has rejoined the public policy firm Macroeconomics in a similar role. Before joining ISA, Anthony was a director in the Australian Government's Department of Finance focusing on expenditure analysis and fiscal advice. He also held a team lead role in the macroeconomic policy division of the Commonwealth Treasury.

ISA confirmed Anthony's departure to Financial Standard. "We thank Stephen Anthony for his work with Industry Super Australia over the last six years. His thoughtful papers have made important contributions to the nation's economic policy debate," said Industry Super CEO Bernie Dean. "We wish him the best in his future endeavours."

Anthony founded Macroeconomics in 2007 following his time with the Federal Government.

In comments on his LinkedIn profile, Anthony thanked everyone at ISA for his time there and said that he's taking a short sabbatical to complete his Certified Investment Management Analyst certification and will resume "my favourite role as [an] independent economist. Stay in touch."
