Financial services software firm Iress has hired a one-time Spaceship operative as general manager of risk of its superannuation business.
Cora Speed will join Paul Giles and Mary Murphy - chief executive and operations head of superannuation, respectively - in their bid to deliver the next evolution of administration for super funds.
"Cora brings a wealth of experience in the world of risk, superannuation and operations, along with a passion for innovation. With a strong background in implementing superannuation risk frameworks," Giles said.
"Cora will definitely make a significant impact on our team and contribute to our continued success."
Speed has worked as a risk and compliance officer at many firms on contract, including ING Australia, Spaceship, The Trust Company, Diversa Trustees, DST Global Solutions and Kinetic Super.
In terms of in-house roles, in 2021, she was appointed chief product officer at trustee provider Certane Group where she was tasked with enhancing and delivering a SaaS product for the financial services industry.
Back in 2016, she spent four years at MLC Australia as a senior consultant supporting the firm's wealth product and platforms business.
Speed also spent five years at Mercer as a superannuation consultant, providing technical support and compliance assistance.
Speed started her career in 2003 when she joined Zurich Financial Services as a customer service officer.
Her appointment comes as Iress reported a 12 per cent slide in underlying EBITDA to $128.3 million for the 2023 financial year and a six per cent rise in costs to $497.4 million.
The fintech also said it cut staff by 15 per cent.
