Real estate group, Dexus, has announced that Elizabeth Alexander will step down as an independent director of Dexus Funds Management (DXFM), effective October 2017, after 12 years in the role.

Alexander will retain her role as chair of Dexus Wholesale Property Limited (DWPL), the responsible entity of the Dexus Wholesale Property Fund.

In acknowledging Alexander's service, Richard Sheppard, chair of DXFM, said: "As a member of the Board Audit Committee as well as Chair of DWPL, Elizabeth has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience in accounting, finance and corporate governance to the Board and demonstrated sound and consistent judgement from which the group has greatly benefited.

He added: "I would like to thank Elizabeth for her dedication and contribution during this time and look forward to her continued involvement with DWPL."

Dexus appointed the Nicola Roxon, former federal minister for health and ageing, as an independent director on 1 September 2017. Following Alexander's departure, the board will comprise one executive director and seven non-executive directors.
