IAG names Exec GM Business Distribution

Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has announced it has brought together its Australian Consumer, Australian Business, Operations and Satellite divisions into one centralised Australian division, and has appointed its former chief of Australian Business, Ben Bessell, to the newly-created role of executive general manager business distribution.

Bessel joined IAG in 1993 and before his most recent roles was acting chief executive of commercial insurance and chief commercial officer for commercial insurance, responsible for the financial performance of the firm's Australian Business division. Prior to joining IAG, he held various roles with CGU Claims.

Commenting on IAG's new structure, managing director and CEO, Peter Harmer, said that it was "a logical next step for IAG and will ensure the company maintains its leadership position in its key Australian market."

Former IAG chief operating officer, Mark Milliner, has been appointed to lead the firm's new division as CEO Australia.
