IAG Group names CEO for new Australian division

Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has announced the creation of a single Australian division to be lead by newly-appointed CEO Australia, Mark Milliner, effective immediately.

Milliner was previously IAG's chief operating officer, a role he was appointed to in June 2016.

Prior to joining IAG, Milliner spent 20 years at Suncorp where he held a number of senior roles, including group executive of commercial insurance, general manager of workers' compensation and, most recently, chief executive officer of personal insurance.

Commenting on IAG's new structure, which will bring together the firm's former Australian Consumer, Australian Business, Operations and Satellite divisions, managing director and CEO, Peter Harmer, said that it was "a logical next step for IAG and will ensure the company maintains its leadership position in its key Australian market."

On Milliner's appointment, Harmer said: "Mark's depth of experience, passion for our customers and people, and his appreciation of the role of insurance in making communities and individuals feel safer, make him the ideal person to lead this business."
