IAG appoints Group General Counsel

IAG has announced the appointment of Peter Horton as group general counsel.

Horton is expected to join IAG by the end of 2019 from TransGrid, where he is executive manager legal, governance and risk.

Prior to TransGrid, Horton was group general counsel and company secretary at QBE Insurance and before that, Woolworths. He joined Woolworths from resource company WMC Resources Ltd where he was general manager legal and company secretary.

Commenting on his appointment, IAG managing director and CEO Peter Harmer said: "I am pleased to welcome Peter to IAG. His considerable experience across a range of industries will enhance the way we meet our obligations, in an increasingly complex environment."

Horton is also a non-executive director for Business for Development - a not-for-profit which aims to reduce extreme poverty through inclusive economic growth.

Horton succeeds former group general counsel Chris Bertuch, who departed IAG in September 2018.
