Hostplus independent director Peter Collins has stepped down from the board, one of four directors to depart from the industry fund. Employer directors Mark Robertson and Mark Vaile, and alternative employer director Neil Randall, are also departing.

New directors include Tabcorp chief David Attenborough and former Federal Minister Craig Laundy. Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers partner Janet Whiting has been appointed as an independent director while former AHA CEO Brian Kearney has been appointed as an alternate employer director.

Hostplus chair Davie Elmsile said the new board would build on the work done by their predecessors. "On behalf of the Hostplus Board I would like to express my thanks to Mark, Peter, Mark, and Neil who have added significant value, experience and knowledge to our Board and our Fund over the years that they have collectively served as trustees. They have directly contributed to the exceptional long-term performance and member outcomes Hostplus has achieved, which has positioned us as the superannuation fund of choice for a growing number of Australians. We thank them sincerely for their great service and support and wish them every success in the future."

Collins, the former Leader of the Opposition in the NSW Legislative Assembly, held elected office in NSW from 1985-1998. After leaving politics, he chaired the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, sat on the board of the Cancer Council of NSW, and is currently the chair of St. John Ambulance. He became a director with Hostplus in 2006.
