HESTA hires tech and digital strategist

Industry fund HESTA has hired Peter Lawrence as its new senior technology and digital strategist.

Lawrence has a diverse set of industry experiences including as chief information officer for the Australian Department of Defence. He was an IT manager for Origin Energy and chief information officer at ANZ New Zealand.

HESTA chief operating officer Stephen Reilly said they were excited to have someone of Lawrence's experience join the organisation. "Peter is a proven, world-class technology leader and he will join a dynamic team that's making a real difference to our members' financial future, while also working with leading technology providers to solve fascinating strategic challenges at scale."

Lawrence said he's looking forward to bringing his experiences to the member-focused fund. "I look forward to supporting the HESTA team through technology to continue to deliver outstanding results for members and ensure our digital channels provide seamless, engaging experiences."

HESTA chief Debbie Blakey said he was a welcome addition to the team. "This marks the start of an exciting new chapter in our digital innovation - Peter's many years' experience in cutting-edge systems will help HESTA continue to build our digital and technology capability, helping improve retirement outcomes for our members."
