HESTA has announced the appointment of Matthew Halpin to the newly-created role of executive - member engagement, effective 2 July 2018.

Halpin, who has over 15 years experience as a superannuation fund executive, previously spent ten years at QSuper in various roles, most recently as chief officer, member support and advice, a position he left in January 2018. Before that he held roles with Sunsuper, Equipsuper and Mercer.

In his new role, reporting to CEO, Debbie Blakey, Halpin will be responsible for driving organic member acquisition and retention through education and advice transformation, member engagement and promotion of the fund.

Commenting on Halpin's appointment, Blakey said: "I'm excited to welcome Matthew to HESTA as his extensive experience across a wide range of roles encompassing technology, operations and member advice brings a broad and innovative perspective that will contribute to us continuing to deliver even better results for our members."

Halpin added: "I'm excited to join HESTA at a time when they're embarking on their next 3 year strategy and I'm very passionate about helping HESTA members make a real difference to their retirement outcomes."

Also joining the HESTA team are Cameron Doig and Alvin Tan.
