GPT appoints finance chief

GPT Group, the real estate investment trust, has nabbed Investa Property Group's head of investment management and finance chief Merran Edwards.

Edwards, who has 16 years' experience in real estate and corporate advisory, was previously chief financial officer AMP Capital Real Estate.

Joining AMP Capital in 2016 as executive manager of origination, she was quickly promoted to the role of head of coporate strategy for AMP Capital globally.

Edwards has also held senior consulting roles at Fife Capital, Fort Street Advisors and UBS, advising real estate clients on acquisitions, corporate finance, capital management, equity and debt.

Commenting on the appointment, GPT chief executive Russell Proutt said: "It is a pleasure to announce the appointment of Merran as GPT's new head of finance."
