Future Super has promoted managing director Kirstin Hunter to co-founder.

The new role will mean Kirsin Hunter will be responsible for identifying market opportunities and developing strategic business plans while continuing to build Future Super's market position.

Hunter first joined Future Super as operations chief in 2017; she was promoted to managing director of the board in 2018.

Before joining Future Super, Hunter was a solicitor for Herbert Smith Freehills focusing on banking and finance law. She went on to become a case team leader for Bain & Co, focusing on corporate and financial issues including retail banking transformation.

"Kirstin has been integral in shaping Future Super to be Australia's strongest performing fund on the market int he past twelve months," said Future Super co-founder and CEO Simon Sheikh. "Her passion for ethics and equality are infectious and will be key in propelling the Future Super story further so that we can build a prosperous future, free from climate change and inequality."

The company says the appointment as co-founder is in recognition of the pivotal role Hunter has played in initiatives like 'the baby bump' where members receive a fee refund while they're on parental leave and the participation in the first global climate strike.

Future Super was founded in 2014.
