The $42 billion public sector investment manager has welcomed a new head of technology who joins from a London-based financial adviser backed by the Liechtenstein royal family.

After seven years at LGT Wealth Management, Simon Boyley has joined SA Funds as head of technology.

Funds SA said Boyley returns to Adelaide bringing a wealth of experience in Information technology, governance and strategy, cyber security and project management.

During his time with the organisation, Boyley led a critical role in facilitating the asset manager's growth from £7 billion to £29 billion in assets under management.

Before his time with LGT, Boyley worked at Australian Unity Wealth in IT applications, production support and project management.
Previously he was an infrastructure analyst with Hewlett Packard.

Commenting on the appointment, Funds SA chief executive officer John Piteo said; "to attract someone of Simon's experience and calibre to the organisation is a wonderful opportunity for Funds SA.

Piteo stated that the firm's technology architecture and capabilities are crucial in delivering strong, long-term investment outcomes for clients.

"Next stop: Australia, to be closer to family and the sun," Boyley posted on social media.

"I can't wait to apply what I've learned in London to new challenges in Adelaide.
