Former Suncorp CEO joins ME board

The ME board has announced the appointment of John Nesbitt as a director, effective 2 February 2017.

Nesbitt's most recent role was as the CEO for Suncorp Banking and Wealth, a role he held for almost three years and retired from in July 2016. Prior to this, he was the group chief financial officer at both Suncorp and Perpetual Limited and before that he was Asia Pacific chief financial officer at Lendlease Corporation Limited. Nesbitt served as chair of the Perpetual Superannuation board and has held memberships of other management and industry representative boards, including IBM Global Services Limited (a joint venture between IBM, Telstra and Lendlease), ASX Perpetual Registrars Limited (a joint venture between the ASX and Perpetual), and many infrastructure and property ownership entities. Commenting on his appointment, ME chair, Ken Hodgson, said: "John's experience at the top of Australia's banking industry as well as his broader financial services and business experience, and leadership roles, will benefit the Bank over future years."
