Portfolio manager Rob Tucker has confirmed to Industry Moves his departure from SG Hiscock, effective February 2017, to set up a new venture with former colleague Anthony Kavanagh.
Tucker was previously the founder and sole portfolio manager of SG Hiscock's SGH Australia Plus fund, a high conviction Australian Equity fund. His new venture, he told Industry Moves, will be to run a "very similar" strategy "given the success of the fund, the differentiated nature of the strategy, and the growing interest in it".
Tucker spent seven years at SG Hiscock, after working for HSBC Asset Management for nine years, the last five of which based in Hong Kong, where he ran the Australian country fund and also invested in Asian equities.
Commenting on his experience, he said: "Over the past 13 years I have visited China over 40 times, which provides a unique insight into the most dominant theme driving Australian equities and property."
