Former Franklin Templeton head joins VFMC board

Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) has announced the appointment of Maria Wilton as an additional director to its board.

Wilton, who has a thirty year history in the investment industry, was previously the managing director and chair of Franklin Templeton Investments Australia. Before this, she held positions with BT Financial Group and County Investment Management where she was a diversified fund and fixed income portfolio manager.

Wilton is currently the deputy chair of Infrastructure Victoria, chair of the Industry Advisory Board of the Australian Centre of Financial Studies, a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Advocacy Council, and national chair of the CFA Society Diversity Committee. Previously, she was a director of various public authorities including Emergency Services and State Super, Melbourne Water, Victoria Legal Aid and the Transport Accident Commission.

Commenting on her appointment, VFMC chair, James MacKenzie, said: "This appointment deepens the strong commercial and public sector experience of the Board. In particular, Ms Wilton brings contemporary investment management expertise and insight"
