Cbus Super has announced the appointment of Nicholas Vamvakas as group executive for strategy and growth, effective 26 August 2019.

Vamvakas previously served as CEO of Equip Super before the announcement it was joining forces with Catholic Super and had appointed Scott Cameron as CEO of both funds.

In acknowledging Vamvakas experience, Cbus Super CEO David Atkin said: "I have known Nicholas for many years and his commitment to delivering outcomes for members has always been striking."

He added: "Nicholas has runs on the board through his time at Equip, doubling the size of the fund and leading some of Australia's largest corporate and funds transfer tenders. As super funds approach a new era of scale, Nicholas' insight will be invaluable to the growth and development of our fund."

Vamvakas will be joined on Cbus Super's leadership team by two fellow executive appointees: Marianne Walker, as group executive member and employer experience, and Wade Martin, as chief risk officer.

In welcoming all three to the $50 billion fund, Atkin said: "In Wade, Nicholas and Marianne we have three high calibre leaders with proven track records of delivery. I know that they each bring with them a fierce determination and focus on outcomes for members."
