Former BTFG CIO joins Suncorp as Head of Investments

Suncorp has appointed Patrick Farrell as the group's new head of investments, effective 18 July 2016.

Farrell previously held the role of chief investment officer and head of Advance Asset Management at Westpac's wealth management arm, BT Financial Group, from 2008 until June 2016. He also has experience specifically working with investments in the insurance industry.

In the new role, Farrell will report to Suncorp deputy chief financial officer Jeremy Robson and will be responsible for the group's portfolio of investments and funds under management.

Commenting on the appointment, Robson said: "Patrick brings a wealth of experience to Suncorp having worked in the financial services industry for nearly 30 years and managed insurance investment teams for more than 10 years."

He added: "He will be a great asset to the team and we look forward to the contribution Patrick will make to the organisation."
