First Super has boosted its senior team with the appointments of an executive manager of governance and a senior legal counsel.

Hayley Pope was most recently the head of risk and compliance at RMBL Investments, the mortgage investment manager, where she led the risk and compliance function for five years.

In that role she drove strong governance practices, overhauling the risk and compliance frameworks, and implementing a new monitoring process.

Before that, she held legal and compliance roles at industry funds Hostplus and Cbus as well as IOOF and Australian Unity.

Meantime, Jennifer Glass joins First Super from Aware Super.

In the last year, she was promoted to acting deputy company secretary from her role as senior legal counsel.

Here, Glass provided advice regarding fund governance on wide-ranging issues, including the application of governing rules and constitution and the superannuation industry's changing regulatory environment.

Before the merger that created Aware Super, Glass had a similar role at VicSuper.

First Super chief executive Bill Watson said the fund's growth had created the need for greater breadth and depth of experience in its governance team.

"Hayley and Jennifer both bring a wealth of super experience to our fund," he said.

"They demonstrate the strategic mindset and stakeholder management skills that will make them valuable team members as we pursue our agenda."
