First Sentier Investors' direct infrastructure team has appointed Celine Kabashima as its investor relations director.

Kabashima comes to the organisation following eight years with AMP Capital where she held several roles, most recently senior investment specialist for infrastructure debt strategies. She was also a portfolio manager for the multi-manager absolute return portfolio.

Kabashima will report to First Sentier's partner and co-head for Australia and New Zealand, Danny Latham. "Celine is a fantastic addition to the team and joins at a very exciting time for the business," he said. "We are well placed to further grow and develop the business, as well as to build upon the robust performance that the team has delivered for our clients during 2020."

Outside of her executive roles, Kabashima founded a women's funds management networking organisation, 3TOM, and was a founding member of 100 Women in Finance's Sydney committee. She also is a member of the CFA Diversity Committee.

Kabashima started her career as a financial advice intern in the US with Morgan Stanley and was a research analyst specialising in hedge funds with EIM Management in New York. She relocated to Australia in 2012.

She says she's pleased to join a funds management firm that values inclusion and diversity. "I'm attracted to First Sentier Investors' commitment to responsible investment, in addition to the inclusive culture and growth of the direct infrastructure team," she said. "Clients have responded well to the accessibility of the team, and I look forward to building on the strong relationship forged with investors."
