A former AMP Capital executive has joined the private assets team at Fidelity International as head of infrastructure debt.

Emma Haight arrives from the role of partner at Ares Asset Management's infrastructure debt business.

She had been with the former AMP Capital unit for almost ten years.

As head of infrastructure debt, Haight is tasked with developing and launching credit strategies and products.

Haight joins Chantal Pelletier who has been appointed head of infrastructure equity investments landing from Schroders Capital where she was head of infrastructure as well as chief executive of the French business.

Pelletier would be leading new product areas in infrastructure debt and equity.

She previously spent 20 years with CDPQ -an institutional investor that manages funds for Quebec's public sector pension and insurance plans.

Incidentally, CDPQ owns Port of Brisbane, Transgrid, and Westconnex, and is a significant investor in social infrastructure assets Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Center, Casey Hospital and Melbourne Convention Center.

Commenting on the appointment Haight said: "With Chantal, we are sculpting a sustainable infrastructure platform that lays the foundation for green, efficient assets that will make up tomorrow's core infrastructure technologies and assets."

"I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who share the same passion and commitment.

"As the {Ares fund} grew, the investment profile of large core infra investments fund resonated less and less with my passion for renewables and targeted sustainable investments," she posted on social media.

Haight decided to pursue a path that reflected more closely her commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable world.

For a start, she joined the Investment Advisory Board for the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.

She also presented at COP28 UAE during a session on incentivising private finance into climate change adaptation and resilience.

Fidelity International global investment chief Andrew McCaffery said within private assets, infrastructure assets have more than quadrupled over the last decade and should keep growing at the same speed over the coming years.

"New dynamics driven by energy transition, mobility and digitisation introduce a multi-trillion investable market, and by expanding our expertise in this area, we are able to offer our clients additional investment diversification."
