ESSSuper appoints GM Trustee Services

ESSSuper has announced the appointment of Ian Lancaster as general manager trustee services, effective 1 July 2019.

Lancaster joins the $29 billion fund from IOOF where he has served as group chief risk officer since October 2017.

Commenting on his experience, ESSSuper said that Lancaster "brings an in-depth knowledge of the current business and leading risk management practices in both the public and private sector from roles with Ernst & Young, ANZ Banking Group and the Victorian Auditor General's Office."

Of his appointment, Lancaster said: "I am passionate about enabling ESSSuper to continue to drive trustee services to govern and enhance our member's wealth and retirement outcomes."

This new role replaces the role of general manager governance and product, which was previously held by Alison Anthony before her move to LUCRF Super as the fund's new chief risk officer and company secretary. Allan Ogilvie, ESSSuper's manager compliance, has been acting in the role since Anthony's departure.

ESSSuper has also announced the promotion of former manager commercial and performance, Duncan Winton, to the new role of general manager member strategy.

The fund said that welcoming the two new executives "represents a significant strategic step forward" as it "focuses on continuing to provide high member satisfaction well into the future."
