Equity Trustees names new MD

Equity Trustees (EQT) has appointed Michael O'Brien as the company's new managing director, effective immediately.

O'Brien joined the EQT board as a non-executive director in July 2014. He was appointed executive director in April 2016, responsible for management of the company, following the announcement that managing director of six years, Robin Burns, was on extended sick-leave and would retire on 1 July 2016.

Commenting on O'Brien's appointment as managing director, EQT chair Tony Killen said: "The board is delighted with the ongoing commitment Mick is making to the company. In the short time that he has been Executive Director he has demonstrated energetic and enthusiastic leadership of a high order, both internally and externally."

O'Brien was previously chief executive of Invesco Australia and chief investment officer of AXA Australia and New Zealand.
